The Process for Getting Veneers
Getting veneers typically requires two appointments: one to prepare your teeth and one to place the final veneers. Here are the steps:
- First, an examination with Dr. Hudzinski ensures your teeth are in good condition before we begin.
- Next, we carefully remove a thin layer of enamel to prepare the tooth to receive the veneers.
- Precise digital impressions ensure that your veneers will fit perfectly and sit naturally against your gumline.
- Temporary veneers protect your teeth while a custom dental lab fabricates the final versions.
- You return to our office to have the final veneers cemented securely to your teeth.
Porcelain vs. Composite Veneers
- Porcelain veneers are durable and stain-resistant, and the material closely resembles tooth enamel. These veneers are fabricated in a dental lab and can last 10 years or longer with proper care. However, we do need to remove a small amount of natural tooth enamel so they fit naturally.
- Composite veneers don’t require significant enamel removal, and we can often complete them in a single visit. They're easier to repair but may not last as long, usually 5 to 7 years.
When you meet with Dr. Hudzinski, he can help you determine which is right for your needs.
